Hair Restoration With Prp

We start by drawing a small amount of your blood and we put the syringe into a centrifuge where it spins for approximately 3 minutes to separate the platelets from the red blood cells. The concentrated platelets contains growth factors that your body would typically use to help promote healing and cell regeneration. This is then injected in the area of concern. It is injected superficially, just enough depth to target hair follicles.

Topical anesthetic will be applied to the area of injection for approximately 10 to 15 minutes prior to treatment. We will also be using short, fine needles to inject. Pain varies for each person’s pain tolerance, but Nurse Alexia always ensures you feel comfortable throughout your treatment!

The effects of PRP can vary and can last for several months to over a year. Typically, a series of sessions is required to achieve a certain result. However, this depends on the individual and the extent of hair loss.

With every cosmetic injectable, redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising can be expected for roughly 3-5 days post treatment. Since PRP uses your own body’s cells and natural healing factors, risk for adverse reactions are near impossible.

It is recommended to rest for at least 24 hours and to avoid any strenuous exercise for at least a week post treatment. It’s important to avoid alcohol and smoking as this can interfere with the healing process. You will be provided a full list of post-care instructions upon your appointment.

For hair restoration, clients who are experiencing hair thinning would be ideal candidates. PRP is not ideal for clients who have experienced complete hair loss. Generally, if the area is shiny, this is an indication that the hair follicles are dead and therefore PRP would be ineffective for this because there are no more hair follicles to stimulate.
