PDO threads are inserted under the skin which stimulates the body to produce new skin cells and collagen. Barbed threads are inserted with a cannula and are gently pulled to anchor the tiny ‘hooks’ into the dermis, creating a lifted result. Excess threads are then trimmed and the area is gently massaged to ensure the barbs have latched. Smooth threads are inserted with a fine needle and do not require trimming or massaging. They are often inserted in a hashtag pattern to help support sagging or loose skin, such as under the chin. PDO threads typically dissolve over a span of 12 months and will continue to stimulate collagen, overall improving your skin’s appearance

Your injector will provide topical numbing as well as local anesthetic to the areas of insertion. PDO threads are relatively less painful than cosmetic surgery and is a great alternative when considering cost and downtime.

The appointment can range from 30 to 60 minutes. PDO threads typically dissolve within 12 months, but depending on each individuals skin type and aesthetic goal, multiple sessions may be required to achieve the desired result.

Like any cosmetic procedure, common risks include bruising, swelling, or infection, which can be avoided when following post-care instructions. Rare cases may include migration or breaking of threads, which can cause unevenness or discomfort.

Redness, swelling and bruising can be expected for the first few days after treatment. We advise you avoid strenuous exercise or any activity that can stimulate sweat for the first 72 hours. You will be provided a complete list of post-care instructions after your appointment.

Individuals who have mild to moderate loose or sagging skin are the best candidates for this treatment. Generally, individuals ages 30 to 60, younger or older, depending on their skin condition and aesthetic goal. Individuals looking to treat scarring or are looking for overall skin rejuvenation are also great candidates.
